Waiata Gardens is an eco-homestead on a three-generations family land. The extensive organic vegetable and fruit gardens are inspiring and nourishing. We have several different accommodation options to suit your needs and budget. Waiata Gardens is located in the Manawatu Region in the lower North Island, about 30 minutes drive from Palmerston North (how to get here)(view map).
Meals are served in the homestead. Some breakout workshops are held here, and two of the accommodation options are also here (the Rose Room and the Blue Room).
This cinderblock barn was formerly the haybarn for the farm. More recently it has been renovated to include a poplar panel ceiling, a state-of-the-art composting toilet, a sleeping loft, and a lush carpet to support our yoga practice. All the yoga, pranayama, and meditations are held here.
The Glamping Bell Tent
New to Waiata Gardens for 2019, we have a canvas glamping bell tent. Fully set up with rugs and mattresses close to the ground, the lotus bell accommodates 3 people.
The Best Parts of Staying at Waiata Gardens
While everyone's experience is unique, some of the highlights we've heard from past guests are:
The walk to watch the sunset on the cliffside
Swimming in the river in the afternoon sun
Listening to the native birdsong
Eating plums straight off of the trees
Picking edible 'weeds' in the morning to add to smoothies
Walking barefoot on the grass
The infra-red sauna
The epic views for miles in every direction
The food, harvested and prepared daily right there on the property.
